Restaurant Palace was chosen as the best restaurant by receiving the most votes from food professionals. Baskeri & Basso Bistro came second and the eighth spot went to a Turku based restaurant, Kaskis. The next places were awarded in the following order: Bistro Bardot, Vinkkeli, Luovuus kukkii kaaoksesta, Restaurant Savoy, Grön, Café Savoy and Alexanderplats Brasserie & Pub.
Two persons were awarded with special recognitions. Helena Puolakka, chef patron of Restaurant Savoy in Helsinki, received the Professional of Professionals recognition. She is one of Finland's most respected chefs. The Best Change-Maker is chef and restaurateur Kim Mikkola, who is known, among other things, for achieving a Michelin star for his already closed Inari restaurant, and for his career at the Danish Noma. Currently Mikkola is looking for new challenges in Tallinn.
In addition to the listing, the professionals also voted on sub-categories to see which restaurants is best within different criterias. The Best Newcomer is Café Savoy and the Most Innovative Restaurant is Luovuus kukkii kaaoksesta, both from Helsinki.
The annual list and voting is implemented by the online media, Viisi Tähteä, in collaboration with Messukeskus as their main partner. The curated list highlights restaurants and the dedicated work behind them, the hardworking people, the world of ideas, excellence, food culture, service, business expertise, philosophy, ingenuity, and restaurant design management.
