Ekenäs is an idyllic seaside town in Raseborg that has charming wooden houses, the oldest pedestrian street in Finland and an active guest harbour.
Ekenäs in a nutshell
The old town of Ekenäs in Raseborg is full of charming wooden houses, small harbours and green parks. The streets have stayed much the same since the 16th century. Ekenäs was traditionally the home of many skilled craftsmen. Today it attracts many visitors in summertime with its guest harbour, terraces, pedestrian street, boutiques, cafés and restaurants.

- The old town is an attraction in itself. Swedish king Gustav Vasa granted a town charter in 1546 – a few years before Helsinki. The small street mirrors or "gossip mirrors" in the windows, elegantly crafted garden gates and the intricately decorated window frames are all details worth spending time looking at.
- Ramsholmen is a pretty woodland park just over a kilometre from the centre of town. It’s a great place to relax and enjoy the nature.
- Ekenäs church is the heart of the old town. Construction of the church began in 1651 and was completed in 1670s.

How to get there
You can get to Ekenäs from Helsinki by bus. You can also take any train to Turku and change at Karjaa. The local train from Karjaa takes just 12 minutes.
