Helsinki does its outmost to make travelers and locals feel safe and comfortable.
General safety measures in Helsinki include avoiding physical contact, maintaining a safe distance from other people and observing good hand and respiratory hygiene. Finnish health authorities recommend using face masks in public transport and in other situations where it is difficult to maintain 1-2 meter distance from other people.
In the city and public spaces there are signs to remember to keep enough distance to others. Hand sanitizers are frequently placed in public spaces such as shops, libraries, museums, train stations and malls.
In relatively scarcely populated Helsinki crowds are rare which makes the rules of social distancing and safety easy to apply.
Events and Venues
Event venues, restaurants and hotels are taking considerable measures to increase safety and hygiene. Cleaning and ventilation is increased and safe distance must be maintained. Possibilities for visitors to wash hands or sanitize their hands must be provided.
As the first Nordic event organiser, Messukeskus Helsinki, Expo and Convention Centre has received a COVID-19 certificate in recognition of exemplary work for Covid-19 safety. The certificate has been awarded by SAFE Asset Group, an international certification and consulting company specialising in the security of commercial premises.
Specific measures taken by venues can be found at the service provider’s web site.
