Helsinki is an intriguing labyrinth of bridges and islands

It was an interesting time in Helsinki. Traveling through the labyrinths of bridges, islands, and to pass people with a sensation of peace on their faces... We were lucky to explore Helsinki for a week! Locals were always ready to help and friendly!

Russian Diana Skitova visited Helsinki in summer and published photos as a result of it on her popular Instagram account diana_skitova.

Here follows a short summary of those photos with 5 tips out of her recommendations in Helsinki:

1) There are many churches in the city, Catholic, Lutheran and Orthodox to name some. My favourites are St. John's Church and Uspenski Cathedral. And, of course, the Chapel of Silence (Kamppi Chapel): this was reason enough to visit the Finnish capital!

2) There are only a few viewing platforms in the city, but we found our favorite one on top of Solo Sokos Hotel Torni, the top-floor bar with a view named Ateljee Bar.

3) We walked around the Market Square several times, there you can buy delicious strawberries and cherries, and also try sandwiches with salmon, wild mushrooms and various jams with blueberries, which is a local delicacy.

4) With a smile on my face, I'll remember the trip. Breathing in the scent of the sea and the purest forest air, which is not exactly what you will expect from a capital city! And in the coming years, I’m sure that this will be the number one city where there is no traffic since public transport works perfectly! Locals went around with bikes, which was something I liked. In the parks, outdoor activities along the promenade like jogging were popular. I loved the proximity to nature, with the city's abundance of parks and islands, like Suomenlinna. It is important for locals to be close to nature, so from almost anywhere in the city it's only 15 minutes to some green areas.
