4.5.2024 Spring migration of seabirds
<p>Let's welcome spring with migratory birds, get your binoculars and cameras ready! Hop on board of Astrid for a bird and seal excursion to the eastern archipelago of Helsinki!</p>
<p>The ropes are untied early on Saturday morning, and while enjoying morning coffee, the ship is headed towards the island of Harmaja. The journey continues along the shores of the outer islands of the Gulf of Finland to the east, towards the Söderskär lighthouse. The guide for the sailing will be a familiar nature journalist and birdwatcher from last spring's trip Paul Segersvärd, with whose guidance we will get to know the migration of arctic seabirds and, with the highest probability, we will also meet some seals. The ship's spacious deck creates a great platform for watching and photographing migratory birds. Last year 47 different species of birds were spotted, it's exciting to see how it goes this year! Welcome aboard!</p>
<p>During the sailing, everyone who wishes also has the opportunity to participate in all sailing activities with the guidance of our crew. During the trip, a delicious, Baltic Sea-friendly wild fish soup lunch with desserts and coffee is served.</p>

<p>The price includes the guide, lunch with a dessert, water, coffee and tea. Soft drinks and mild alcoholic beverages can be purchased on board. The meals served on board are lactose-free.</p>
<p>NOTE! Weatherproof clothing is recommended and comfortable shoes for sailing. If possible, bring your own life vests for kids, they are more comfortable than the ships vests.</p>
<p>Paul Segersvärd is a very experienced bird watcher who is familiar with the annual cycle of Finnish birds. Observing migratory birds on the coast of the Gulf of Finland is of particular interest to him. Paul has been a birding guide in the capital region for 35 years. During his long career as a nature reporter, he has become familiar with other nature in a wide range as well.</p>
