Could Helsinki have a second centre? The visualisations of plans for Pasila make it easy to believe so. Pasila is the place best accessible for the whole country, a Helsinki district well on its way to becoming a city centre in international style. For long, Pasila has been split in two by the railroad but the newly developed area around the station will turn Pasila into a unified, yet diverse district. The planned new high-rise buildings will reach for the skies and form a new urban silhouette for the whole city. The sounds of trains remain: all Helsinki train traffic runs through Pasila, just a few minutes from the Central Railway Station.
