Skating is completely free of charge on all nine artificial ice rinks and other fields of the City. At the moment Brahenkenttä, Oulunkylä, Eläintarha, Käpylä, Arabianranta, Kalasatama, Jätkäsaari, Munkkiniemi, Ruskeasuo, Pukinmäki, Herttoniemi, Lassila, Pirkkola and the new Johanneksenkenttä ice rink have opened.
Brahe Sports Field
“Bragu” or “Braku” is a popular sports field in Alppiharju that is transformed into a huge artificial ice rink in wintertime. One half is reserved for regular skaters and the half for ice hockey. Next to the ice rink there is a café where you can also sharpen your skates and rent skates, sticks and helmets during the cafés opening hours. There are also vending machines for drinks and snacks that can be used whenever the ice rink is open.

Oulunkylä Sports Park
The artificial ice rink at Oulunkylä Sports Park is situated in the place where Finland’s first trotting track opened in 1884. In wintertime you can skate there, enjoy hot drinks and snacks in the café and even have your skates sharpened.

Käpylä Sports Park
Käpylä Sports Park was originally a trotting track for horses that opened in 1926, and races were held there all the way up to 1976. The infield was made into a football pitch in the late 1940s, and in the 1950s popular skating events were held there in wintertime. These days the sports park has both an artificial ice rink and an ice hockey rink. Skating sleds are available to help children and beginners stay on their feet!

Pukinmäki Sports Park
The artificial ice rink in Pukinmäki is free of charge. The sports park dates back to the early 1930s, so you can imagine all the different skating styles that have been displayed in Pukinmäki over the decades while practicing your own pirouettes.

Kontula Sports Park
Back in the 1910s, when the owners of Borgs Farm in Mellunkylä began selling land to smallholders, Sven Juselius acquired Mustikkasuo (Blåbärskärr) Farm and began cultivating 11 hectares of fields. On those same fields can be found today Kontula Sports Park. The kiosk at the sports park has the same opening hours as the skating rink.
