My company relocated to Ullanlinna across from St John's Church some years ago. Running a business here has been extremely pleasant: there is a strong sense of communality among the local entrepreneurs, and the residents welcomed us with open arms. Our Korkeavuorenkatu high street is the most Parisian spot of Helsinki, a true shopping street with many small boutiques. It brings together all kinds of activities from little parties held at hair salons to cinnamon buns and oyster dinners, visits to the theatre and window shopping.

Ullalinna is the southernmost district of central Helsinki. The area is known for its numerous parks and prestigious properties, mainly built in art nouveau style or 1930s functionalism. Ullanlinna is home to over 10,000 residents.

The best-known streets in the neighborhood are Korkeavuorenkatu, Huvilakatu, and Merisatamanranta. Korkeavuorenkatu is lined with shops, bistros, delis, and cafés and is only a few minutes' walking distance from the downtown area. At the other end of the street, you can reach the seashore in a matter of minutes. Merisatamanranta is a length of shoreline that looks out over several nearby islands. It is popular for a stroll or a jog and seaside cafés can be found here at regular intervals.

Only two blocks in length, many think of Huvilakatu as the most beautiful and picturesque street in the city. The street starts at the corner of Tehtaankatu around the corner from the Eira Medical Centre and ends on the sunny Merikatu near the water. The pastel-hued stone art nouveau houses with their towers and bay windows attract eager photographers in every weather.

The largest park in Ullanlinna is the logically named Observatory Hill Park (Tähtitornin vuori) overlooking the sea. The park is home to the Observatory designed by C.L. Engel. Other Ullanlinna sights include St John's Church and the Olympia Terminal, from where overnight ferries to Stockholm depart.
