Helsinki has lots of lovely local stationery shops where you can find unique and beautiful cards for all occasions.

Papershop

Papershop is a delightful little boutique that sells high-quality paper and stationery products very close to the centre of town – it’s like a little candy store for paper goods. Having moved a couple of years ago from a tiny little shop in Kruununhaka to a bright street-front boutique in Punavuori, Papershop has established a reputation among locals as being the place to go for cards, notebooks, posters and other paper items. There are hundreds of cards to choose from, in addition to which they print custom cards. Papershop also organises various handicrafts and DIY workshops – even in English. If you can’t make it there in person, Papershop even has an online store selling a wide selection of its best products and seasonal gift ideas.

Putinki

Putinki sells a wide range of paper goods and cards at its three shops, one on the corner of the Töölöntori market square, in Kallio and on Korkeavuorenkatu. The service is very friendly and the staff knowledgeable. You can buy notebooks, gifts, toys, balloons and other party supplies. Putinki probably has the biggest selection of cards in town, with lots to choose from for all tastes.

Academic Bookstore

In addition to the boutiques listed above, there is always the legendary Academic Bookstore in the heart of the city next to Stockmann’s. The iconic building was designed by legendary Finnish architect Alvar Aalto especially for the Academic Bookstore in 1969. Although the emphasis is on books, it also has a large department for stationery and office supplies. You will find a wide range of cards for all occasions, including Valentine’s Day, so you won’t leave emptyhanded.
