Kalliola Summer House

Enjoy Finnish sauna and the atmosphere at Kalliola Summer House at Laajasalo. The sauna is located by the sea side, just a metro and bus ride from the city centre.

Villa Furuvik seaside sauna

Villa Furuvik, a conference and banquet villa located close to the sea, offers public sauna hours in their sauna. The sauna hosts approx. 12 persons at a time. It is also possible to have a swim, ice swimming in winter, while the sauna is located right by a sheltered, sandy beach.

Laajasalo beach

A beach in Laajasalo with dressing rooms and shower. Closeby is also a weightlifting area, a playground and Laajasalo sports park.

The City of Helsinki supervises the beach during the swimming season.

Fornitaly

A pizza place with authentic Italian pizza made by three Italians at a "barn" in Jollas, east-Helsinki. There are no tables at this place, just take away. Pizzas, specialty of the week-pizza, foccaccia and other Italian pastries.

Restaurant Pyysaari

Restaurant Pyysaari is a legendary island restaurant that opened during the Olympic games in Helsinki in 1952 in order to take care of the international participants of the sailing competitions. The restaurant has been open every summer since then.

It is possible to reach the island both by ferry or bus. There is a guest pier for private boats on the north side of the island. It is also possible to walk to the island via the Tullisaari park.

Laajasalo Church

The Laajasalo church, completed in 2003, was designed by architects, Kari Järvinen and Merja Nieminen. The building is mostly made of wood. The external cladding of the church and parish meeting hall, and part of the bell tower and activity facilities, is antiqued copper plate. The rest of the external cladding is made out of horizontal boarding. The church was awarded prize in 2004 for high-level wood construction, and in 2005 it received the Copper in Architecture award.
