Geological collections

The geological collections of Luomus (Finnish Museum of Natural History) are located at Kumpula manor in Kumpula Botanic Garden, and open in summertime for visitors.

The collections are divided into rock and mineral collections and paleontological collections. These include specimens of minerals and rocks, meteorites and samples of fossils and bones.

Mental Museum

The Mental Museum located at the main building of the former Lapinlahti Hospital, a hospital for psychiatric care closed in 2008. The museum presents history and stories from the hospital, photos, objects used in the hospital and art work. The museum is run by the Pro Lapinlahti-mental health association.

In the building also a cafe and a lunch restaurant. In the area also eg. a sauna, handicraft shop, and a multi purpose space Venetsia.

Music Museum Fame

Fame, Finnish Music Hall of Fame, is a modern music museum and a gallery of honour to Finnish music. The Finnish music and its artists are being displayed in this functional museum that uses current technology in its displays.

Alvar Aalto's Villa Kokkonen

Located on the shore of Lake Tuusula Villa Kokkonen is the former home of composer Joonas Kokkonen (1921-1996) completed in 1969. It is one of the few private houses designed by Alvar Aalto (1898-1976).

Pianist Elina Viitaila and opera singer Antti A. Pesonen now occupy the house, cherishing the cultural heritage of the villa and hosting guided tours, which culminate in a musical performance by the couple.
