Here is a selection of Helsinki's loveliest flower shops. In some of them, you can even enjoy a drink or take part in a workshop.

As autumn arrives and the days grow darker, what is needed is a little more light and good cheer. Locals can be seen carrying flower bouquets to brighten up their homes. In some flower shops, you can even enjoy a drink or take part in a workshop. Shopkeepers are also responding to the current challenges by focusing on dried flowers and the circular economy.

Mu Filosofia flower shop

Mu Filosofia is a cross between a flower shop and a tearoom where you can relax and unwind. The high walls of the premises exude the power of nature, and the grounding experience is reinforced by a pot of hot tea from the boutique’s quality selection. The floral offerings include both long-lasting dried flowers and fresh flowers. Nature and aesthetics come together inside the shop and are also highlighted in the interesting workshops, where you can try ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arrangement, learn about flowers through art and discuss the challenges of the floral industry.

Rescue flower shop Kukkis

Set amid the fine milieu of Lapinlahti is an orange structure that is overflowing with garden plants, houseplants and bouquets that have been given a second chance. Kukkis is a surplus flower shop that fights against waste, transports flowers by bike and works together with local care homes and mental health workers. Kukkis also organises workshops, and volunteers are invited from time to time to help create bouquets. In wintertime, Kukkis operates inside the main building of the historic Lapinlahti Hospital, and home deliveries will also be available soon.

BUD Helsinki

Could the new owner of a fresh bouquet of flowers be any happier? The answer is yes at BUD, where you can also order a glass of wine – organic, please! BUD is a unique flower boutique, minibar and creative space set among the galleries in the Punavuori district where beauty and a rough appeal are intertwined. The flower arrangements are like galactic explosions, while the photography exhibition on the walls brings you back down to the city asphalt. The shop also successfully combines wines with flower arrangement workshops and graffiti-inspired movie evenings. The premises engage all six senses and can even be rented for private events. You can also have a bouquet of flowers delivered to you at home.

Harjun Kukka

Inside the casual bistro Harju 8 next to the Harjutori square, customers are greeted by an abundance of houseplants in the front room and bouquets on the tables that you can purchase and bring home. The plants and flowers are provided by Harjun Kukka, which operates out of the restaurant but has also opened a separate flower shop nearby on Fleminginkatu. You can buy both fresh flowers and dried flowers, and you can even attend workshops and make your own flower arrangements. Conveniently, you can also have plants and flowers delivered by Wolt.

Studio Viivi

Flamingos on fluffy clouds in crystal rain above a rainbow – the delightful Studio Viivi on the corner of the Karhupuisto “Bear Park” offers flowers that are just as playful and lovely. With its pink walls and fluffy toys, this street-front boutique is not your traditional flower shop, as its fresh flower bouquets have to be ordered in advance. You do not have to walk away empty-handed, however, because you can still buy colourful bouquets of dried flowers, as well as flower books, glass vases and even puzzles. Studio Viivi is open only a couple of days a week, but if the door is locked, you can still enjoy the bright atmosphere by pressing your nose up against the window!
