Public transport in Helsinki

Helsinki is practically a walking city. It is compact and easy to navigate on foot. Most hotels are centrally located. Also the major sights and major points of interest are within a walking distance from the major congress hotels.

Getting around

Train

Local trains I and P operate between Helsinki Airport and the city centre on the Ring Rail Line every 10–20 minutes. The journey takes 30 minutes. A regional ABC ticket is required and it can be purchased from a ticket machine or via HSL mobile app.

Bus

Buses operate throughout the region. Bus 615 runs between the airport and the Central Railway Station and takes around 45 minutes. A regional ABC ticket can be purchased from a ticket machine or via HSL mobile app. Bus 415N operates at night.

Tram

Trams are the main mode of public transport in the inner city. Local tickets for zones AB can be purchased from a ticket machine.

Suomenlinna ferry

The municipal ferry operates between the Market Square and the Suomenlinna Sea Fortress all year round.  Tickets for zones AB can be purchased from a ticket machine at the Market Square.

City bikes

There are 3450 bikes and 238 bike stations in Helsinki available from May to October. Registration and further information including prices: www.hsl.fi/en/citybikes.

Metro

The metro line in Helsinki region stretches from Matinkylä, Espoo to Vuosaari, Helsinki via the city centre. Tickets for zones AB can be purchased from a ticket machine.

Walking

Helsinki is a compact city to explore on foot, as most of the sights are within convenient walking distance of the city centre. There are also maps available with recommended walking routes.
