Most major international hotel chains, including Best Western, Crowne Plaza, Hilton, Holiday Inn, Radisson Blu, Nordic Choice Hotels, Scandic and Small Luxury Hotels have presence in Helsinki. Many hotels in Helsinki have been granted the Swan eco-label. The Swan eco-label's vision is a sustainable society, in which future generations can benefit from the same conditions and opportunities as we ourselves do. The Swan is the official Nordic eco-label, introduced by the Nordic Council of Ministers and it demonstrates that a product is a good environmental choice.

Even the ones who don’t have an official eco certificate, do have an environmental plan regarding food, water, cleaning, laundry, waste management and energy consumption. Some hotels also offer carbon footprint calculators which measure the climate impacts of hotel stays and tell you what you can do to reduce it.
Scandic has been working actively on sustainability initiatives aimed at minimizing the environmental footprint for years; most of the Scandic Hotels in Helsinki have the Swan Ecolabel sustainability certification.
