Entering this cosy and small Russian tea room is like jumping down the proverbial rabbit hole. There are a few tables where you can sit and pour your tea from a beautiful teapot, or you can buy teas to take home with you.

Théhuone

Théhuone is another tea shop and tea room that sells a comprehensive range of teas from around the world. There is also plenty of space for enjoying tea on the spot. Théhuone also organises tea tasting events on a regular basis. Théhuone also has a tea room and shop in Tapiola.

TeeMaa

“TeaLand” is a real paradise for tea lovers that specialises in unflavoured teas from East Asia. While shopping for your favourite varieties in the tea shop, you should also take the time to sit down in the tea room, where the tea is served in the Chinese gongfu style. It also serves the best matcha in Helsinki!

Demmers Teehaus

This Austrian tea shop and tea room serves a fine selection of refined teas, including rare varieties that are listed on the monthly Tea Taster menu. Demmers is a nice place to stop and enjoy a cup of tea and chat with the shopkeeper. You can even purchase a lovely hand-knitted tea cosy.

Chaya

Chaya specialises on teas from China, Taiwan, Japan and Korea that you can also purchase from its online store. It also has a good selection of rare varieties, such as yellow tea and Pu’erh; according to the frienldy shopkeeper, Pu’erh should be tried with a pinch of salt rather than sugar.

Johan & Nyström

Johan & Nyström is not just a coffee roaster but also a tea merchant. It sells a wide variety of flavoured teas in the Swedish style, and they are packaged in stylish tins. Located just a stone’s throw from the Market Square, this is the perfect place to enjoy a hot cup of tea together with a delicious sandwich!

Café Aalto

Grab a newspaper from downstairs and then head upstairs to the iconic Café Aalto, where you can read about world affairs over a nice cup of tea. Or stock up on books before meeting a friend for lunch and tea. Café Aalto is always stylish and a guaranteed classic.

Restaurant Salutorget

Salutorget is one of the few places in Helsinki that serves a traditional English afternoon tea, complete with scones, sandwiches, homemade preserves and cakes. This little treat, beautifully presented, is a great way to leave the everyday behind. Naturally, you can also order tea with your lunch or dinner and no one will raise an eyebrow. Remember to remove the tea strainer from the pot unless you like really strong tea.

Café Samovarbar

This small and cosy museum café is known for its beautiful and high-quality tea servings. The tea comes steeped in a pot, and you can enjoy with delicious home-baked cakes. It even has an outdoor terrace where you can watch the ships glide by. You can also enjoy specialty coffees, wines and ice creams!
