Sandro Kortteli

Sandro’s brunch has won much acclaim and numerous awards – and it actually lives up to all the hype! No one will go away hungry after visiting Sandro’s generous and colourful brunch buffet. Sandro Kortteli on Urho Kekkosen katu serves a Marrakech Madness brunch on Saturdays 11-15.

Sunn

The brunch at Sunn is a degree more refined than many others, as the restaurant’s location in the historical centre creates a very special atmosphere. The buffet food varies from one weekend to the next but usually includes salads, fish, breads and cheeses. You can also order other brunch classics, like omelettes, from the menu. Get a table by the window and admire the view to Helsinki Cathedral while enjoying your brunch, which is served on Saturdays and Sundays.

Kustaa Vaasa

In the middle of Vaasankatu you will find Kustaa Vaasa, which serves a generous buffet brunch on Saturdays and Sundays. A renovation a couple of years ago transformed this former local bar into a worthy restaurant that serves a bright brunch on weekends. And being in Kallio, it’s relatively affordable too!

Kaarti

The best thing about this restaurant in Töölö – besides the excellent food, of course – is the building’s history. It was once part of the Taivallahti barracks and is now a protected building. On one wall of the restaurant you can see a pastel-coloured mural of the world that was hand-painted in 1935, when the world was a different place. In other words, Kaarti offers both brunch and a slice of history at the same time! The buffet brunch is served on Saturdays and Sundays.

Tanner

Tanner transforms into a cosy restaurant with carefully selected music when the night falls. In the mornings, stop here for a splendid breakfast of yogurt, delicious bilberry-buckwheat raw porridge, bread with toppings like almond-feta, parsnip hummus and guacamole, as well as banana waffles made with oat milk and served with a tahini and berries. There are smoothies and raw cacao, as well as smoothie bowls, matcha, turmeric and beetroot lattes, and freshly pressed juices. The breakfast is served on Saturdays  and Sundays from 10am until 3pm.

Gastro Café Kallio serves all day breakfast on Saturdays and Sundays from 10am to 2:30pm. The menu includes croque monsieur, duck eggs and pancakes with lemon. The café also serves Good Life Coffee, plus teas and fresh-squeezed juices. This is a great place to enjoy that traditional brunch classic, pancakes with maple syrup, plus you can order more sweet treats from the bar.

Yes Yes Yes!

One of the newest restaurants in Helsinki is the vegetarian establishment Yes Yes Yes on the corner of Iso Roobertinkatu and Yrjönkatu. It opens on Saturdays at 12noon, making it the perfect place for brunch. The halloumi fries have already become a local favourite, and you can also order a wide variety of pies, finger food, salads, dips, naan bread and other comfort food. Just about everything is vegan, and don’t overlook the drinks menu at the bar – especially if you plan an extended brunch!
