The Karanteeniteatteri “Quarantine Theatre” was born out of the corona pandemic and specialises in streamed theatre performances. If the current corona restrictions allow, small groups can also watch the performances in person. The mostly Finnish-language repertoire is constantly updated and ranges from improvisational performances to song evenings and full-length plays.

Art on your headphones – audio tips for long walks and journeys

Paths in November audio walks

The contemporary dance festival Moving in November offers a series of audio walks that you can listen to free of charge while out for a stroll. Each recording is a site-specific portrait of a person inviting the listener for a walk with their voice, following their path. The audio walks have been created by local students together with performer and choreographer Pie Kär. The audio walks are in Finnish, but English translations are available on the website.

Middle Eastern Bloc 

Helsinki-based international theatre group The Post Theatre Collective has produced two seasons of its Middle Eastern Bloc podcast series. The podcast presents writers and playwrights residing outside their country of birth discussing how they have coped with the pandemic. The episodes are free of charge and in English.

The Mail Order Experimance by the Reality Research Center can be experienced by one viewer at a time in their home – or anywhere else for that matter, depending on the environment for which the performance has been prepared. The Finnish-language “performance” arrives in an envelope containing instructions for the show.
