Kruununhaka and Katajanokka

Ilmakuva Katajanokasta
Lead text
Here you can feel like a part of Helsinki's silhouette. The quaint neighbourhoods embraced by the sea are hideaways for historical buildings and institutions, local street-side stores, and a village-like atmosphere. The old spirit of Helsinki still lingers on these winding streets close to the downtown area. You can walk in the footsteps of author Tove Jansson, step into a vintage shop, greet the magnificent ice-breakers, or observe civil servants walking between governmental buildings, deep in thought. Just as present are the strong art nouveau and empire architectural styles, the lively bar stretch along the canal on Kanavaranta, and the swimmers paddling in the year-round sea pool.
